The Carson High boys golf team didn't do as well handling the wind as the other top four Northern 4A clubs, so an end result of fifth place in Tuesday's tournament at Rosewood wasn't surprising.
Carson settled for fifth after a score of 436. Galena won with a 393 and was followed by Reed (408), Fallon (411) and Reno High (416). Sparks' Greg Wenzel was the low score medalist after shooting a even-par 72.
For Carson, Tim Hohl shot an 85, Jimmy Potter fired an 86, Derek Zastre shot an 87, Chad Gilmore fired an 88, Tyson Roser had a 90 and Andrew Meyer fired a 92.
"It was extremely windy," Carson coach Rod Butler said. "I thought the scores were going to be higher. The other teams stayed right in with their normal scores.
"It obviously wasn't upsetting to the other teams like it did us. We hit some balls in the water and got frustrated with the win and lost focus. By the time we got it back it was too late."
