Indian Creek Campgroundready for camping season

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced that its Indian Creek Campground at Indian Creek Reservoir in Alpine County, Calif. will open on Friday, April 30.

Paved access is provided by Airport Road from Calif. S.R. 4 & 89, between Woodfords and Markleeville.

The main campground has 19 camping sites suitable for recreational vehicles, up to 30 feet in length or for tents.

The restroom has flush toilets and hot showers.

Drinking water and a sanitary dump station are also provided.

A second area, designed for tent camping, has 19 sites.

A day-use area has 10 picnic sites, boat ramp, large parking lot and restrooms with flush toilets.

Groups of up to 40 people may, with advance reservations, camp in a special group tent area.

The 2004 fees are:

$15 per night in the main campground.

$11 per night for walk-in tent sites.

Additional vehicles using a parking space are charged $5 per night.

The Group Tent Campsite fee is $50 per night with a 40 person maximum and no camping allowed in the parking area.

The Group Tent Campsite area must be reserved by calling (775) 885-6000. No reservations are accepted for Memorial and Labor Day weekends, or between July 4 and July 11, when the Group Tent Campsite is used on a first-come, first -served basis for overflow camping.

Indian Creek Campground will remain open until noon on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

Persons age 62 and older with Golden Age Passports are entitled to a 50 percent reduction in camping fees.
