Carson City kicked off its annual clean-up week Friday with the opening of a new junk hauling business.
The new business, 1-800-GET-JUNK held a ribbon cutting Friday at the home of Esther Humphrey and hauled her garbage away for free as part of the event. Elderly or disabled residents are invited to call 887-8898 to arrange a pick up time for the week.
Carson Pride Week will run until May 2. Free dumping at the city landfill will be available to Carson residents today and Sunday and April 30 to May 2.
Other activities include free yard debris pick up Monday through Thursday, call 887-2345 for information. Great Western Motors will tow away old vehicles for free with a proof of title. Call 883-7633 for information.
Carson City Fire Department will allow an open burning period this spring. Residents can obtain a burn permit from a fire station or visit www.carson-city.nv.us/CCFD.
