A celebration of life for Mimi Toft, 68, a Carson City resident for the past 23 years, will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Fountainhead Foursquare Church with a celebratory gathering to follow.
Mrs. Toft died Nov. 24, 2004, of lung cancer. She was born Bette Montrose Gillespie July 15, 1936, in Selmer, Tenn., to William and Bessie Gillespie.
She moved to Coleville, Calif., where she and her husband owned and operated the Meadowcliff Resort from 1970-74. She was involved in the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, PTA, Boosters and Lions clubs.
After moving to Carson City, Mrs. Toft was a Realtor for 15 years, most recently working with her husband, Ron, as a team for Heritage West Century 21 where she earned numerous awards including Realtor of the Year. She served on the Sierra Nevada Board of Realtors on the Grievance, Professional Standards and MLS committees.
She enjoyed reading, the smell of the ocean, to watch the sunset, travel and spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Among her survivors are her husband of 50 years of Carson City; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Nick Medina of Fairfield, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Marlene Gillespie of Antioch, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Tammy Toft of Ft. Collins, Colo.; daughters and sons-in-law Terri and Craig Zager of Lake Tahoe, Denise and Dene Kelley of Silver Springs and Sheri and Ken Fayal of San Diego; grandsons Ronnie Toft, Jordan Zager, Ian and Jake Kelley; granddaughters Sarah, Jahna and Elizabeth Rico, Jenny Salvo, Joelle, Grace and Shelby Toft, Katie Kelley, Sheri Fayal; two great-grandchildren and dear friends Julie and Gerd Reichardt and daughters Brandy and Brittany of Gardnerville.
