A celebration of life for Laury M. Lewis, 65, a Carson City resident for the past 22 years, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
Mr. Lewis died Dec. 14, 2004, of an apparent heart attack. He was born Sept. 22, 1939, in Lewisville, Idaho, to Edythe and Alva Lewis.
He graduated from Blackfoot High School in Blackfoot, Idaho, and served in the West Spanish American mission.
He graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, receiving his CPA designation, then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in accounting.
He then accepted a senior position with the state of Montana.
After moving to Carson City in 1982, he was the general manager of the State Industrial Insurance System until 1991. He married Marilyn Tatro Paoli in 1992, and they worked together at their State Farm Insurance agency.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Among his survivors are his wife, Marilyn; daughters and son-in-laws Cheryl and Rick Grey of Helena, Mont., Julie and Bill Shaw of Wentzville, Mo., daughter, Jennifer Lewis of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter and son-in-law, and Lisa and John Pelayo of Danville, Calif.; son Barry Lewis of Kent, Wash.; daughter Juliana Paoli of La Jolla, Calif.; sister, Marilyn Shoemaker of Salt Lake City, and her children Brian, Scott and Valerie; and grandchildren Ashley and Aubrey Lewis, Mike and Kelsey Grey, Hayley, Katie, Calvin and Lauryn Shaw and Kayla Pelayo.
