Dr. O.W. White, 86, a Carson City resident for the past 60 years, died Feb. 20, 2004, at his home. He was born Dec. 21, 1917, in Windsor, Vt., to Orrick Edward and Marion Chapman White.
He completed his pre-med degree at Case Western Reserve University and his medical degree at Kansas City University of Physicians and Surgeons. He also earned a Doctor of Osteopathy degree at Kirksville College of Osteopathy.
He married Lucille Virginia Young in 1942. She preceded him in death in January 2000 after 58 years of marriage.
Dr. White worked briefly at Tampa Municipal Hospital in Florida and in Wellington, Kan. He moved to Carson City in 1944 where he practiced medicine for 50 years, retiring in 1995. He served for many years on the Nevada State Board of Osteopathy in all capacities including secretary, treasurer, vice chairman and chairman. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Carson City Elks Lodge.
Among his survivors are his two daughters Sandra Davis and Lona Ann White, two grandchildren and four-great-grandchildren.
A private service was held Feb. 26 followed by interment at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
