Rudolph K. 'Rudy' Schaffter

A memorial service for Rudolph K. "Rudy" Schaffter, 94, a Carson City resident for the past 20 years, will be at noon Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Schaffter died Jan. 24, 2004, in Carson City. He was born Nov. 30, 1909, in Baltimore to Rudolph and Edna Klippel Schaffter.

He attended high school in Maryland and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in anthropology from the University of Wisconsin.

He married Mildred Burke Caldwell.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Wisconsin.

Mr. Schaffter owned and operated Rudy's Bail Bonds in Carson City. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity at the University of Wisconsin, a member of the Navy League and an avid swimmer.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 64 years, Ann.

Among his survivors are his wife, Mildred "Millie" of Carson City; son, Rudy C. of Wisconsin; daughter, Nancy Holmes of Lincoln, Calif.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
