A Carson City computer manufacturer has been selected by American Airlines to take part in a nationwide project that will track customer service actions, aircraft maintenance and employee service.
Cubix Corp. will produce 250 specialized computers and integrate them with Compuware software at its Carson City plant near the airport.
The computers will be installed at 150 airline terminals throughout the United States.
"It's a big boost for us," said Jim Zakzeski, vice president of marketing and sales. "This will keep us pretty busy for the next 90 days."
Once installed, the BladeStation and BladePoint rack mount server products will be used by the airlines to monitor activities such as quickness on reservations and customer service operations, aircraft maintenance and employee leave request response times.
American Airlines awarded the services portion of the contract to AT&T Global Services, who will manage Cubix and Compuware products at the various locations.
Hardware maintenance depot support services will be based at Cubix Corporate headquarters in Carson City.
The contract will be the largest disbursements of equipment yet for the local corporation.
