A memorial service for Walter G. Kaweski, a Carson City resident for the past 16 years, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Carson City.
Mr. Kaweski died June 10, 2004, at Washoe Medical Center in Reno. He was born March 11, 1919, in Oil City, Pa., to George and Anna Woss Kaweski. He was 85.
He married Thelma Hesse in Carson City on Jan. 21, 1996. Mr. Kaweski enjoyed polka and traveling the world with his wife.
He earned his degree from the Metals Engineering Institute.
Prior to living in Carson City, Mr. Kaweski lived in South Lake Tahoe and in Clear Lake, Calif.
After retirement he began a career in real estate. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6158 in Fair Oaks, Calif., and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Kaweski served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII in the European Theater. He was a chief mechanic and inspector of P-4 aircraft.
Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City, sons Walter of Fair Oaks, Scott Hesse of Cheyenne, Wyo., Michael Hesse of Carson City, Neal Hesse of El Paso, Texas, Lewis Isbell of Sun Valley, Idaho, and Bob Mack of Medway, Ohio; sisters Gertrude Gustafsan of Pennsylvania, and Cee Laniewicz of Georgia; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
