A teenager was arrested after fire department investigators believe he may have played a part in a suspected arson Wednesday night.

The fire, which broke out at 9 p.m., destroyed a 50,000-square-foot building behind a former lumberyard at 4999 Highway 50 East, said Carson City Fire Chief Dan Shirey.

A witness told investigators he had spotted juveniles setting the fire.

Three juveniles were seen fleeing the area, according to Sheriff Kenny Furlong.

Furlong wasn't sure of the juveniles' age or the charge.

The boy was taken to juvenile detention about 7:15 p.m. Thursday by Detective Richard Mendoza, he said.
