A gathering for family and friends of Rowena M. Schneider, 81, a Wellington resident for the past 13 years, will be at 10:30 a.m. March 13, at Topaz Ranch Estates Community Center on Carter Way. Lunch will be served.
Mrs. Schneider died Feb. 22, 2004, in Carson City. She was born Sept. 22, 1922, in San Francisco, to Elmer Herman Roach and Melba Butler.
Before moving to Wellington, she lived in San Jose, Calif.
She married Donn C. Schneider on July 19, 1952, in San Francisco.
Mrs. Schneider was a member and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary 3630 and a member of the Sage Hens in Topaz Ranch Estates. She enjoyed arts and crafts, painting, crocheting and sewing. She was an avid gardener and loved cats, bowling and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Dawn Schneider; brothers Norman and Paul Roach; and sister, June Loveall.
Among her survivors are her husband of Wellington; son, John III of Campbell, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and David Giarritta of San Jose and grandchildren Juliette and Kellie Hoppins and Sarah Giarritta, all of San Jose.
A memorial service was held at the Los Gatos Christian Church with inurnment at Los Gatos Memorial Park.
