A. Richard "Dick" Miller, 82, a Carson City resident for the past six years, died March 20, 2004, at Evergreen Care Center. He was born May 10, 1921, in Whittier, Calif., to Arthur W. and Esther Sawdon Miller.

He married Frances Marie Ferguson July 30, 1944, in Pettus, Texas.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Pomona, Calif.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Azusa Canyon City Post 180 American Legion and NARFE in Pasadena. He was a Protestant. He enjoyed bingo and woodworking.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia.

Among his survivors are his sons Donald of Carson City and Thomas of Twisp, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law Renee and Tony Copeland of Carson City; brothers William H. of Upland, Calif., and James A. of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, Calif.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
