A funeral for Donald J. Smith, 61, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Yerington Paiute Tribal Gymnasium.
Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington.
Mr. Smith died March 21, 2004.
He worked for Anaconda from 1950 to 1978 and then worked for the Lyon County Road Department until he retired in 2003. He enjoyed fishing, camping, barbecuing and spending time with his family. He volunteered for many years with Little League, helped at the Bow and Arrow Shoots, and barbecued for Yerington Head Start.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his grandparents Elmer and Edna Forbush and Delos Smith; parents Clarence and Patricia Smith; and brothers Glenn, James Sr. and Clarence.
Among his survivors are his companion, Goldie Clark; sons Dwayne of California and Robert Jr. of Yerington; daughters Debbie Smith-Carrillo of Yerington and Julie Smith of Los Alamitos, Calif.; brother Thomas Smith of Wisconsin; sisters Jean Henderson of California and Patricia Smith and Joan McCann of Yerington; grandchildren Victoria, Kambria, Robert Jr., Jacob and Jordan Smith, Jesse and Kayla Carrillo and Karla and Brian Landa; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Association or the Heart Association.
Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
