A 16-year-old teen is being charged as an adult after a classmate said the boy raped him while another youth stood by with a gun, authorities said Thursday.
The assault is being described by police as an initiation into a racist gang. The suspect's name is being withheld by the Appeal because of his age and the preliminary state of the investigation.
According to police, the 15-year-old victim said he went to a home off Woodside Drive on Sunday to visit the suspect, who "did not feel good," according to the police report.
Once there, the suspect, a Carson High School sophomore, allegedly ordered the victim to undress and "perform sexual acts on him," as part of an initiation into the Aryan Brotherhood, said Carson City Sheriff's Detective Bob Motamenpour.
The Aryan Brotherhood is a white-supremacist prison gang with ties to the Aryan Nation, according to the Anti-Defamation League Web site.
Motamenpour said the victim complied with the orders because the suspect allegedly had a knife and the victim knew he owned several weapons.
After the reported sex acts, the victim was told to get dressed and leave, Motamenpour said.
On Monday, the victim returned to the east Carson City home with another male teenager, who is allegedly a member of the gang.
Motamenpour said the suspect gave the second teen a 22-gauge shotgun and ordered him to shoot the victim if "he tried anything funny." The victim was then allegedly sexually assaulted again by the suspect, he said.
Later, the victim said, the suspect pretended to put a shell in a pump-action shotgun then pointed the gun at the victim and pulled the trigger, according to the police report.
The victim allegedly said the suspect prevented him from leaving, Motamenpour said.
The victim's story was corroborated by the second teen.
After interviewing the suspect at Carson High School on Wednesday, Motamenpour placed him under arrest and transported him to juvenile detention.
At 10:30 a.m. Thursday, he was certified as an adult and booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of two counts of felony sexual assault, assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment. His bail is set at $250,000.
The shotgun was recovered at the suspect's home, along with other evidence, Motamenpour said.
He said a case against the second teen who held the gun on the victim will be forwarded to the Carson City District Attorney's Office for review.
