Erich J. Mahla, 81, a Carson City resident for the past 15 years, died Oct. 31, 2004, at his home. He was born March 29, 1923, in Estonia, to John and Eileen Mountain Mahla.
He completed high school in Finland.
He married Margie Bartine in November 1963 in Las Vegas.
She preceded him in death June 8, 1999.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Whittier, Calif., for 40 years.
Mr. Mahla was an equipment installer for General Telephone Company for more than 40 years. He loved to walk around Mills Park and talk to people. He was a member of the Estonian House in Los Angeles.
He served in the Finnish Army during World War II.
Among his survivors are his daughter, Melodie L. Akins of Carson City; brother, Heinz of Estonia and one niece.
At his request, no service will be held.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
