Silver Strike Lanes in the Gardnerville Ranchos plays host to the 2004 Nevada State Seniors Bowling Championship Tournament beginning Friday at 1 p.m.
The tournament runs today, Saturday and Sunday and continues Nov. 12, 13 and 14.
League players from around the state over the age of 55 will be competing for the championship in open, women's and mixed senior categories.
"It is a prestigious event for our center," said Silver Strike owner Doug Helman. "It brings in a lot of business to the other establishments in town, to our hotels, casinos and restaurants."
Bowling continues from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
The tournament is sanctioned by the American Bowling Congress, sponsored by the Nevada State Bowling Association and co-hosted by the Carson Valley Inn.
Silver Strike also landed the Nevada State Open championships, scheduled for the spring of 2005, which will bring in a substantially larger field of competitors.
Admission to watch this weekend's tournament is free, however registration to compete in the championships has closed.
Silver Strike Lanes is located at 1281 Kimmerling No. 8 in the Ranchos.
