Carson City Sheriff's deputies are looking for 23-year-old Rigoberto Vega-Aguilar, who allegedly shot a 27-year-old Mound House man Wednesday evening in east Carson.
According to Sheriff Kenny Furlong, Vega-Aguilar shot Caesar Muñoz in the left side of his abdomen after a dispute at about 6:30 p.m.
Witnesses and the victim identified Vega-Aguilar as the shooter in the altercation on Brown Street in east Carson City. Five shots were fired, including one into the victim and one into a residence occupied by several children, Furlong said.
Muñoz was taken by Care Flight to Washoe Medical Center Wednesday evening. His condition was unavailable Thursday evening.
Vega-Aguilar pleaded guilty to a charge of gross misdemeanor conspiracy to commit battery with a deadly weapon for the April 30, 2001, shooting of Muñoz's brother Gabriel. The original charge of attempted murder was reduced when Muñoz failed to appear in court to testify.
Vega-Aguilar was sentenced to one year in jail and ordered to pay $52,584 in hospital bills. The feud has been brewing for years, according to a 2001 interview with Gabriel Muñoz.
Vega-Aguilar is a Hispanic male, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds with brown eyes and hair. His hair is shaved on the sides.
Anyone with information as to Vega-Aguilar's whereabouts is asked to call Carson City Sheriff's detectives at 887-2020, ext. 14.
