The Carson Midget Pop Warner football team went to 3-0 on the season by taking a 30-0 win over Truckee last Saturday at Governor's Field.
The game started off with a bang as Matt Rutledge returned the opening kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown. Robbie Bozin added two more scores in the first half - one coming on a 44 yard run and the other on a 35 yard punt return. Rutledge finished off the scoring with a 25 yard touchdown run.
Pat Riggs, Jeff Butler, Mason Bondi, Nate Reno, Daniel Draper and Tyler Brown also carried the ball for the Senators behind the strong offensive line blocking of Cody Barr, Brian Benson, Chris Bradley, Blake Davidson, Justin Gregorian Hogan, Eric McDaniel, Ben McDonald, Anthony Pisani, Manuel Toledo, Jeremy Zich and center Tanner Wood.
"It was great to see our special teams put two scores on the board," said head coach Mark Rutledge. "We pride ourselves on being a well rounded team where every player contributes to the success of the team."
The Midget defense continued its stingy way by posting its third shut out in a row. Leading tacklers for the Senator defense were Matt McDaniel, Reno, Spud Jacobson, Bozin, Rutledge, Davidson, Brown, Bondi, Draper, Owen Craugh, Steve Carranza, Jeff Butler, Jacob Ormsby, Matt Parmenter, Riggs, Ian Bradley, Ryan Cruse, Casey Hill and Chad Plattsmier. Parmenter intercepted one pass and Riggs swiped two more from the Truckee Offense.
The 3-0 Midgets take on the other undefeated team in the division tonight in Reno when they hook up with the Reno Wolf Pack at 8 p.m. at Mira Loma Park.
