Once well known for supplying novelty candies, the Candy Bar has new owners and a new name.

Jeannifer Brady and her mother, Jeanne Paquin, bought the candy shop in September and changed its name to Everything Sweet. It's located at 2649 N. Carson St. near the Dollar Tree.

Brady said she and her mother wanted to own their own business, so when the opportunity came up they took it.

"We both have a sweet tooth and we were familiar with the former owner. She wanted to get out of the candy business and we were like 'why not leap in?' Now we can satisfy our sweet tooth at the same time."

The shop has shelves of candies up against the walls and one bin in the back of the room.

Brady said they want to be known as the place that stocks the old-fashioned candies - candies like Abba-Zaba chewy taffy, Jujubes and Black Jack gum.

"We get the kids coming in after school but we also get the adults looking for the nostalgia candies."

Beanie Babies occupy a section of the store as well.

Brady also runs an online bookstore, but this is her first time in a retail store.
