The Carson Junior Midget Pop Warner football team moved to 3-0 with a hard fought 14-66 victory against a tough and talented Reno Vikings at Governor's Field last Saturday.
Carson scored first behind the blocking of Justin Barlow, Clint Gross, Max Kilgore, Gabe Renteria, William Flores and Danny Gall. Beau Bickel crossed the goal line from the 5, following a 40 yard drive. A pass from Blake Plattsmier to Bickel was complete for the extra point.
Defensively, Carson had its hands full with the passing of the Reno quarterback, who passed and ran with some success against Carson. Great efforts by Reece Conrad, Randle Oxoby, Robbie Barlow and Beau Bickel limited the Reno offense. Cornerback Devin Lytle also made a huge interception to stop a drive and Luke Carter had a good day making tackles around the ends.
With Carson leading 7-6 late in the game, Carson went on a drive covering 35 yards for a score. Dom Cavilia caught an 18 yard pass from Blake Plattsmier and Plattsmier followed tup with another toss to Kris Cannigo who maneuvered nicely into the end zone.
The team again credited the Carson Junior Midget cheerleading squad, saying its support and spirit is very much a part of team's success.
Carson plays at Fallon today.
