The Carson High girls and boys cross country teams continued to turn in impressive efforts at the Elko Invitational on Saturday.
Carson's girls took second in the event while the Senator boys took fourth. Teams competing were Elko, Independence, Reno, Galena, Wooster, McQueen, Reed, South Lake Tahoe, Hug, Douglas, North Valleys and Spanish Springs.
The Senator girls took second with 90 points, finishing behind Reno, which finished with 21 points. McQueen took third with 126 points.
Christy Works led Carson, taking seventh in 21 minutes, 24 seconds. Also for Carson, Hannah Works was 17th in 23:24, Christa Casci was 21st in 24:04, Meagan Myer was 22nd in 24:06, Kristin Neddennriep was 23rd in 24:07, Gloria Sosa was 24th in 24:21 and Sumantha Pitts was 29th in 25:39.
Carson's boys had 144 points, finishing behind Reno (35), Galena (71) and South Tahoe (100). For Carson's boys, Doug Holderman was 25th in 19:30, Caleb Carter was 26th in 19:31, Rusty Turner was 28th in 19:34, Brad Williams was 31st in 19:41, Shelby Moulden was 34th in 19:43, Scott Wandel was 60th in 21:29 and Tyler Davies was 61st in 21:31.
Carson ran without several of its top runners including Annie Brinson, Patty Capistrant, Ryan Turner and Chad Shroy, who were all scheduled to go through scholastic testing.
