The Rite of Passage football continues to have a history making year as the Rams rolled to a 42-0 win over Whittell on Saturday.
ROP improved to 5-3, 5-2 in the Northern 2A, equaling the school record for wins. The Rams will go for the school record on Wednesday in the "Battle of Mason Valley" when ROP plays at Yerington at 7:30 p.m.
If Lovelock beats Battle Mountain and ROP defeats Yerington, the Rams would clinch second place and would host a first round playoff game. A loss would knock ROP back to fourth, meaning it would have to travel to Lovelock for the first round of the playoffs.
Yerington had 451 yards of total offense, 412 on the ground and 39 through the air on one completion. The completion was for a 39-yard touchdown from Urich Mello to Phillip Williams.
Mello also rushed for 106 yards on 14 carries and a score. Hugo Araiza rushed for 165 yards and two scores on four carries, Ricky Plancia rushed for 85 yards and two scores on 11 carries, Darrell Gentry gained 62 yards on three caries and Kevon Walls gained 31 yards on five carries. Sharon Jackson also intercepted two passes and Josh Ottinger was 6-for-6 on PATs.
