A bank, a children's store and a Mexican-food restaurant will move into two buildings under construction at Highway 50 East and Airport Road in the Longs Drug shopping center.
The two buildings are expected to be completed in December or January. They will have about eight suites. Project principle Vicki Hone said Tuesday that Northern Nevada Bank will occupy the corner 5,025 square-foot building along with a national restaurant chain. She said the restaurant lease has not been finalized.
"We feel this project will provide not only the people residing in this area of town with more retail and eating avenues, but also those who travel through this high-traffic intersection," Hone said. "This project sits on what is already a main corridor through Carson City."
Hone, a member of Carmine Development LLC and the Hone Co., said the area will also receive a lot of traffic from Mound House, Dayton and Silver Springs when the Carson City Freeway is completed.
General Contractor Mark Beauchamp, with Shaheen Beauchamp Builders, said both 3120 and 3220 Highway 50 East have received a lot of interest.
"We think Highway 50 East and East College (Parkway) are starting to heat up because of the bypass and Wal-Mart," he said.
Carousel Kids, a children's store, and El Aguila Real Mexican restaurant will occupy 3220 Highway 50 East. This building will be 10,976 square feet and could house six suites, Beauchamp said.
He estimated the buildings' shells will be done in about three months. The interiors will be completed depending on when the tenants sign the leases. The first group of tenants should have their spaces finished in about five months.
El Aguila Real is moving from its 2495 N. Carson St. location. Carousel Kids is moving from 1501 N. Carson St.
