The Carson Junior Midget team won its second straight game of the young season with a 20-6 victory against a stubborn Truckee team last Friday night at Governor's Field.

Carson moved the ball well early in the game, only to stall twice inside the 5-yard line. After the second drive died, however, the defensive unit delivered a big play when Beau Bickel sacked Truckee's running back in the end zone for a safety.

Coach Troy White had high praise for the entire Carson defensive line and noted that Levi Bloxton, Robbie Barlow, Kenny Rees and Reece Conrad deserved credit for excellent play.

Dominick Cavilia broke loose for a 35-yard touchdown run on a counter play - the first TD of his Pop Warner career. Cavilia also caught a 20-yard pass from quarterback Blake Plattsmier that nearly went for a score just prior to halftime.

Kris Cananigo got into the score column with a 15-yard run around the right end. Beau Bickel and Zack Burnaugh had several power sweep runs to keep Carson's momentum going in the fourth quarter.

After the game, the running backs and coaches gave praise to the offensive blocking of William Flores, Max Kilgore, Danny Gall and Gabe Renteria.

"The evening was also more enjoyable by the noticeable presence of the Junior Midget cheerleading squad," coach White said. "The talented dance and Cheer routines kept the Carson football boys in "high spirits" and all the coaches and football players extend their appreciation for the great support and close teamwork with the boys."
