The Carson City Parks Department is looking for comments on what should go into a new neighborhood park in the Silver Oak subdivision in northwest Carson City.
The three-acre park has been in the development's plans since 1993, when 13 acres were set aside for a park and a possible school site.
Carson City is holding three workshops to discuss what should be in the park, the first of which is at 7 p.m. Monday in Marlette Hall at Western Nevada Community College's Cedar Building, 2201 W. College Parkway.
Notices of the meeting went out to Silver Oak residents and other nearby neighbors, but Carson City Park Planner Vern Krahn said anyone who lives in the city is encouraged to attend.
"Even though we are focusing our notices in the Silver Oak area, this is a city park," he said.
Krahn stressed that the park will be developed as a "neighborhood park" and not an events center.
"If someone wants something they'd find at a sports complex, that won't fit in here," he said.
The second workshop, on Thursday, will also be at Marlette Hall.
Both are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. A time and location for a third workshop will be announced at the second meeting.
