A graveside service for Clyde E. Aguirre, 74, a Stagecoach resident and 26-year Nevada resident, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.
Mr. Aguirre died April 21, 2005, at his home.
He was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Santa Ana, Calif., to Leonard and Faye Champion Aguirre.
Before moving to Nevada, he lived in Madera, Calif.
He graduated from Madera High School in 1948.
Mr. Aguirre was sheriff for Madera County, chief of police in Mendota, Calif., and retired from the Nevada Department of Corrections as a sergeant. He was a Clamper and a charter member of the Carson City Moose Lodge. He was an avid sports fan and loved to watch baseball, basketball and the Dolphins.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Among his survivors are his wife, Clara Jones; daughters Cherie Scott of Stagecoach, Babette Gilbert of Carson City and Denise Agrava and Jacqueline Aguirre, both of Fresno, Calif.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Leonard, and sister, Conni Dedmon, both of Madera.
