Stella Humphreys, 80, of Carson City died Aug. 20, 2005, in Carson City. She was born Oct. 14, 1924, in Rockbridge County, Va., to John R. and Nannie Jarvis.
Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Buena Vista, Va.
Mrs. Humphreys was a clerk for the U.S. government. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Retired Federal Employees, and she was involved in many civic committees while living in Buena Vista. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carson City. She enjoyed oil painting, jewelry making and sewing.
Among her survivors are her daughter and son-in-law Gabrielle and Jim Jones of Carson City; daughter Tracey Straub of Middlebrook, Va.; grandson, Jeremy W. Jones of Vinton, Va.; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are pending.
Burial will be in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens in Lexington, Va.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
