Brian Banners recently fired a hole-in-one at Silver Oak Golf Club. He used a pitching wedge from the blue tee on the 110-yard sixth hole. Bob Guerrero was among those who witnessed the feat.
Boykin wins event
Carson City's Kim Boykin was the champion on the Northern Nevada Women's Golf Association's Amateur Stroke Play Championship held last week at Somersett Country Club.
Boykin was the low gross winner with a score of 153. Christy Atencio took second with a 156. The low net champion was Betty Colescott with a 139.
Other took finishers were: First flight - Low gross, Karen Hoppe, Rayleen Cudworth, Valerike Pike 160. Low net - Laura Jones 143; Marvis Green, second 148; Kalli Mannos, third 150.
