Legislature's 120-day schedule

Key deadlines for the 2005 Legislature will pretty much follow the same pattern they did in 2001 and 2003. In this session, however, deadlines for introduction of final budget bills and other funding legislation will be moved a couple of days closer to the end of session.

Monday - Deadline for bill draft requests from individual legislators.

Feb. 15 - Joint subcommittees of Ways and Means and Senate Finance start.

Feb. 28 - Deadline for bill draft requests from committees.

March 21 - Deadline for introduction of bills by individual legislators.

March 29 - Deadline for introduction of committee bills.

April 5 - Money committees begin closing budgets.

April 15 - Deadline for committee action on bills in the house of origin.

April 26 - Deadline for passage of legislation by the house of origin.

May 2 - Economic Forum sets final revenue projections for biennial budget.

May 6 - Money committees begin work resolving budget differences.

May 20 - Deadline for committee action on bills in the second house.

May 26 - Finish budget differences.

May 27 - Deadline for passage of legislation by the second house.

June 1 - Budget bills and "exempt bills" introduced.

June 4 - Deadline for conference reports on bills where Assembly and Senate versions differ.

June 6 - Day 120, the final day of the 2005 Legislature.
