Starbucks will occupy the last building under construction in the Carson Quail Park off Highway 395 and Rhodes Street.
The second Starbucks coffee shop in Carson City will open in the spring, a corporate spokesman said Monday. Two other businesses will also occupy space in the 4,300-square-foot building. An executive with the development company said those spaces have not yet been leased.
Joey McNinch, Starbucks district manager, said the additional location will provide 20 jobs.
"Starbucks looks forward to hiring Carson City residents and will be accepting applications in early April 2005," he said.
"The new Starbucks will also work with a nonprofit partner in the area to generate local attention and energy. The nonprofit partner will be selected once the store has opened."
McNinch said the 1,500-square-foot location in South Carson was chosen because of the increased traffic at the North Carson City and Gardnerville stores.
Carson Quail Park developer Ed Yuill, vice-president of Ribeiro Cos., said he had planned to construct a larger building on the pad, but when the Starbucks deal came through, he had to accommodate a drive-through.
Carson Quail Park is 62,000 square feet of retail space, and includes Sparky's Sports Bar & Grill, Ming's Chinese Restaurant, FASTSIGNS and Spa Helios.
