Marilyn L. Allen, a Dayton resident for the past seven years, died Jan. 12, 2005, at home.
She was born April 1, 1939, in Glendale, Calif., to Mary Blosser and Domenic Como.
Before moving to Dayton, she lived in Mission Hills, Calif., for 33 years. Prior to that, she lived in Burbank, Calif.
For the past 22 years, Mrs. Allen was an active member of the International Chili Society. She participated in chili cook-offs in several Western states, including the 2003 World Chili Cook-Off in Reno, in which she placed in the top 10. She was also a member of the Young At Heart bowling league at the Piñon Plaza.
In her early years, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends camping and boating.
Among her survivors are her husband of 45 years, Kenneth "Sonny"; son Roy and grandson, Devon of Santa Clarita, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law Rod and Joyce and granddaughter, Cassidy of Reno; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Stella Como and nephew, Christopher Como of California.
No service will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Cancer Society or St. Mary's Hospice in Reno.
