Robin Desota of Kingsbury captured first-place in the 32nd annual Ponderosa Ridge Run trail race from Spooner Summit to Kingsbury on Saturday.
Desota finished the highly-challenging 9.5-mile route across the mountain tops in a time of 1 hour, 30 minutes and 54 seconds to outdistance the field of nine entries. The course starts at an altitude of 7,300 feet and climbs nearly 2,000 feet in the first four miles.
Doug Smith of South Lake Tahoe finished a close second in 1:31:12 and defending race champion Craig Denney was third in 1:32:18. Sean Lehman of Carson City was fourth in 1:49:04, Ron Nageotte of Stateline was fifth in 1:57:34 and Frank Perry of Indian Hills sixth in 2:16:30.
Patty Cyr of St. Louis, Mo., was seventh overall and was the first woman to finish in 2:48:01.
