A Carson City company that makes amplifiers and motion controllers for robotics plans to expand and build two rental units.

Essy Fatehyar, owner of Western Servo Design, said his company will add on four suites to its site. Founded in 1990, the company's headquarters is a 10,125-square-foot building at 1501 S. Sutro Terrace.

The new units will add 7,171 square feet. Each unit contains an office and warehouse space.

"We're going to use two for ourselves, and the other two are going to be for high-tech companies," he said Monday. "These are going to be designed for engineering firms and those involved with high technology."

The Palmer Engineering Group designed the project. The estimated cost of construction has not yet been determined. A contractor hasn't been chosen. No tenants are secured, Fatehyar said.

"We want to create an environment for small companies to have a space to do business in Carson City."

The project will break ground in September and should be completed by December.
