Irwin Financial Center's groundbreaking will be celebrated with a champagne toast and a spade full of dirt Thursday evening at the East College Parkway site.
The 78,000-square-foot financial center includes six buildings, ranging from 3,000 square feet to 32,000 square feet. The center is a quarter mile from the future Carson City bypass ramp.
Connemara Development LLC is operated by Bruce Robertson, John Griffin, Carrie McAninch and Michael Bayliss.
The $14.3 million financial center surrounds the Sonic drive-in at 1818 E. College Parkway. Connemara also owns the 61Ú2-acre office and retail building at Goni Road and East College Parkway, which it bought for $2.1 million in September 2004.
Irwin Union Bank will move into the anchor position at a financial center, to a building with about 27,000 square feet. Stewart Title will lease a 9,050-square-foot building in the center. The company will move its 25 Carson City employees to the location when the center opens. Representatives from both companies will attend the ceremony.
So far, three of the buildings are occupied by a dentist's office, a law firm and an accounting firm, said John Griffin, a partner in Connemara Park LLC. The buildings are available for sale or lease. The goal of the developers is to create a one-stop destination for financial services.
At the groundbreaking, Mayor Marv Teixeira will speak on the economic impact of the center.
