A memorial service for Julian Larrouy Sr., 101, a Gardnerville resident for the past 62 years, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gall Catholic Church.
Mr. Larrouy died June 7, 2005, at Evergreen Center. He was born May 21, 1904, in San Francisco and experienced the San Francisco earthquake of 1906.
He moved to France with his father and sister, where he lived for 10 years. He returned to Reno in 1918.
He married Sybil Brenton in 1927, and they moved to Gardnerville in 1943, where they operated the JSV Bar, now the Valley Bar, for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter Baby Larrouy; and sister, Jeanne Disney.
Among his survivors are his son, Julian Jr.; daughter Sybil Dunagan; grandchildren Darla Britton and husband Ted, Kerry Munk and husband John, Darin Dunagan and wife Amber, Janine John and husband Greg, Julene Helmer and Julian Larrouy III and wife April; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Gall Memorial Garden.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
