Wayne D. Sitton, 60, a Gardnerville resident for the past 30 years, died May 26, 2005, at his home.
He was born Dec. 31, 1944, in Ventura, Calif., to Charles "Chuck" Sr. and Ruth Sitton.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived Ventura County, Calif.
He attended Ventura/Camarille High School and Ventura College.
Mr. Sitton worked as a sportsbook writer at the Carson Valley Inn. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
He enjoyed reading, birding, painting still lifes, gardening, fishing, hunting, photography. He was a sports fan.
He served in the U.S. Army with military honors, receiving a Purple Heart and a Gallantry Cross with the gold star.
Among his survivors are former wife and friend, Patricia Lloyd; children Denise Liggett Merrick of Portland, Ore., and William Liggett of Minden; parents of Oak View, Calif.; brother, Charles Jr.; three grandchildren; seven nephews and nieces; and uncle, Buck Sitton.
A family memorial service will be at a later date.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
