A wildland fire near Spooner Summit has been extinguished, and Highway 50 has been reopened.
The fire was reported at about 5:15 p.m. one mile west of the state's Clear Creek Youth Camp on the south side of Highway 50 between Carson City and Spooner Summit. It was limited to one acre.
Early reports said the fire is burning near structures. The blaze is the fourth fire of the week and the second near the summit.
Fire officials are concerned about the weekend's forecast for thunderstorms, but weather does not appear to be a factor in the Spooner fire as skies were clear at the time the blaze was reported.
Badger fire update
Flames are no longer visible and there is only minor smoldering at the Badger fire burning east of Carson City that began Tuesday and scorched 736 acres.
