Northern Nevada's top senior high school softball players from this past season will be featured in the Fallon Optimist Classic.
The game will be played at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 31 at Churchill County High. Proceeds will go to youth programs supported by the Fallon Optimist Club.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students with ID and $2 for senior citizens. A tape-delayed broadcast of the game will also be provided by the Local Sports Program on local public access television.
Fallon's Tammy Peel will coach the East team while McQueen's Stacy Allison will coach the West. Among local players in the game are Carson High's Jessica Ashbaugh and Mandy Carvin for the East. Also playing for the East will be Douglas High's Kayla Dunn, who will play softball and Georgia Tech and Val Smith, who will play at Columbia.
Dayton's Nicole Greer, who has received a scholarship offer to play at Division II Kentucky Wesleyan, will play for the East as well. In addition, Fallon's Michelle Beach, who will be heading to Feather River Community College, and Liz Lewis, who will be heading to Dixie State Junior College in Utah, are on the East roster.
Local players for the West include Galena's Kelly Drury, Danielle Moropolous and Alicia Kraft. Rosters are:
