Silver Springs - Plans to move an elderly Silver Springs woman, who was facing eviction, have been stopped, and the money will be returned, said Tom Blomquist of the Silver Springs Spay and Neuter Project.

In September, Blomquist asked for the public's help in raising enough money to move Jeanne Breland's 1984 single-wide mobile home to property he and his friend Mike Cartwright purchased after Breland said she'd received an eviction notice from her landlord.

About $2,000 was raised, and Blomquist and Cartwright outfitted the land with a sewer line and prepared Breland's mobile for the move. But a disagreement between Breland and Blomquist, and an anonymous complaint that Blomquist was running a scam, ended the arrangement, Blomquist said. He and Cartwright are informing donors by mail.

"Refunds for the donations should be mailed in a week to 10 days. I will also arrange to return all material donated," Blomquist wrote to donors.

Anyone with questions on the refunds should contact Blomquist at (775) 577-3518.
