Fitness center adds on, HGTV looking for an unusual home and there's a new show about horses

Silver State Fitness, off Fairview Drive, added a 900-square-foot, air-conditioned, aerobics studio. The studio has a 20-foot-high ceiling, down fans and glassed doors.

The aerobics program was expanded to include three types of yoga, a therapy ball stabilization class taught by a licensed physical therapist, and an evening Super Circuit class.

New classes began Monday. Drop-ins are $7 per class, with package pricing available.

Marilyn Lewis of State Farm Insurance completed the Chartered Advisor for Senior Living from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Penn. She completed five courses and 10 hours of supervised exams.

Lewis began her financial career in 1982 when she opened her State Farm Insurance business at 321 W. Winnie Lane. The Home and Garden TV show "ReZoned" is dedicated to telling the story of unique homes created in buildings not originally designed for residential.

Examples around the country include power plants, silos, mills and firehouses - anything unconventional that was never lived in before the renovation.

To submit your home to the program, there are a few conditions:

The renovators, or their family, need to be living in the home. If the property was renovated and sold it doesn't work for the program.

It has to be a single-family home. HGTV producers are not looking for developers who have gutted buildings and are now selling lofts out of it.

It has to look like the former building. Some reminders of the history of the building still need to be visible even though it has been renovated.

The Internal Revenue Service posted guidance regarding the federal taxability of the 2005 rebates issued by the State of Nevada online at the IRS Web site.

To access the information online enter "Nevada Rebate" into the "Search for..." section on the front page of www.irs.gov/. The same fact sheet can also be found under the "Nevada" state link in the "Around the Nation" section of IRS.gov accessible from the "Newsroom" link on the front page.

"This guidance should make it easier for folks to understand the potential federal tax implications," said Raphael Tulino, IRS Spokesman for Nevada.

The fact sheet answers some common questions and offers direction. Several factors may affect the rebate's taxability, including whether or not a taxpayer registered a vehicle with the Nevada DMV in 2004 and if any registration paid amounted to more or less than $75. Advice is available for individual and business taxpayers.

The fact sheet also provides specific examples and, if taxable, where to report the rebate as income on a 1040 federal tax return.

The Carson Valley Inn and David Walley's Resort have an agreement that the resort will have exclusive use of the 75-room Carson Valley Motor Lodge through October 2007.

"We will use the Carson Valley Motor Lodge for an extensive marketing program to develop new David Walley's owners and to provide bonus rewards for the growing number of existing David Walley's owners," said Bob Sewell, co-president of Quintus Resorts, the owner and developer of David Walley's.

A Howl-O-Ween Party at Reno Harley-Davidson on Oct. 29 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. will feature pumpkin decorating for kids, costume contests for adults, children and pets.
