Free seminar focused on health education, awareness
Dr. Roger Belcourt is conducting a five-week seminar on health education and awareness.
The seminar begins at 7 p.m. Friday and continues each Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening through Nov. 20 at the Carson City SDA Church, 405 E. College Parkway.
Sit in on live cooking demonstrations where you will see tips for preparing healthier meals. Learn how to overcome smoking, alcohol and other addictions. Understand cancer prevention strategies and how to build a strong immune system.
Dr. Belcourt is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, holds an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Practice at the UNR School of Medicine and is currently a Medical Director for Specialty Health Inc. in Reno. There is no charge for his presentations. Those attending on the first night will receive a computerized Lifestyle Analysis.

Tour the cemetery with ghosts, ghouls
The Douglas County Historical Society will present its 10th annual Cemetery Tour on from 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $5 per person with children under 12 admitted free.
Several ghosts from Douglas County's rich and exciting history will come to life.
Family members and others bring to life some of the county's notable pioneers.
Costumed living-history guides will be leading the tours as they relate their own personal or family history.
Things to remember: Bring a flashlight, dress warmly (hat, coat, gloves), and wear warm walking shoes.
Hot cider and cookies will be served, compliments of the Douglas County Historical Society. Proceeds will benefit the operations of the Genoa Courthouse Museum in Genoa and the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center in Gardnerville.
The Garden Cemetery is located behind Stratton Center on Cemetery Road and Douglas Avenue in Gardnerville.

Senior spooktacular dance this Saturday
A Spooktacular Halloween Dance will be from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the Douglas County Senior Center. Music will be provided by Ramblin' & Co. Costumes are optional; however, there will be an award for best costume for individual and couple. A 50/50 raffle and a Halloween basket will be raffled off. Refreshments will be served. The cost is $4 per person for the dance.
