Carson City, the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), the U.S. Forest Service and the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation are inviting all interested parties to help rehabilitate and restore the hillsides above Carson City.
There will be a seed planting party held on Nov. 5.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the U.S. Forest Service Carson Ranger District Office at 1536 S. Carson Street at 8 a.m.
They will travel from there to the actual planting locations.
Bitterbrush seed that was collected in the Lakeview area in July will be planted on areas of the Waterfall Fire to provide food, cover and soil stabilization.
Those volunteers should count on spending the day outside.
They should wear long pants, dress in layers and be prepared for changing weather.
The volunteers are asked to bring hats, sun block, work gloves, wear good hiking boots and bring their own lunches. Drinks will be provided.
To pre-register, call either Kim Toulouse at NDOW at 688-1893 or Maureen Easton at the U.S.F.S. at 884-8151.
