A funeral Mass for Johanna "Joan" Maria Le Sage, 83, a longtime Silver Springs resident, will be at noon Friday in the Le Sage Chapel of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 1400 W. Antelope St., in Silver Springs.
A Rosary and viewing will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Le Sage died Sept. 11, 2005. She was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Massachusetts, to James Vincent and Marie Ciota Farina.
She married Eugene F. Le Sage Sept. 21, 1941. He preceded her in death March 26, 1991.
They settled on two parcels in Silver Springs to build their home and a Latin Tridentine Chapel which they named Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. She spent many hours cleaning the church, caring for the linens and providing a meal in her home after The Holy Mass for scores of believers.
Mrs. Le Sage enjoyed family gatherings and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and a first cousin of boxer Rocky Marciano. Her motto in life was "Don't let anyone steal your peace."
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Mary Francis Le Sage, brother Louie Farina and sisters Mary Farina Carmichel and Elizabeth Farina.
Among her survivors are her children Francis X. and wife Barbara of Silver Springs, Eugene F. and Linda of Paradise, Calif., Joan and husband Mal Le Pas, Ellen and husband Greg Pellant and James Le Sage, all of Carson City; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and sisters Ciny Belmosto of Braintree, Mass., Grace Bevelaqua of Andover, Mass., and Rose Hopkins of Newark, Ohio.
A celebration of life will be at 1460 W. Antelope St.
