Traffic was backed up in Pleasant Valley on Thursday following a rush-hour motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a Gardnerville man.
The man, whose name had not been released pending notification of kin, was northbound on U.S. Highway 395 near Cheyenne Drive about 5:15 p.m. when he lost control of his blue Harley Davidson for an unknown reason, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Shaun Valiant. He swerved across the center turn lane and was thrown from the blue Harley Davidson into the path of a white Chevrolet Astro Van. The motorcycle continued across the turn lane and hit a white Ford pickup.
There were no other injuries to the drivers or the passenger in the van.
Valiant said that speed was not a factor in the accident.
Traffic was stopped in both directions for about 30 minutes during the accident investigation then confined to one lane in both directions until about 9 p.m. while the highway was cleared.
