The Sierra-Tahoe Branch 137 Fleet Reserve Association's national organization will be offering multiple scholarships to qualified applicants. Applications are available online and must be submitted before Saturday. The FRA is comprised of current and former enlisted members of sea services.

Biodiversity Initiative holds photo contest
The Nevada Biodiversity Initiative will hold its annual photo contest through May 15. The categories are Nevada landscapes, native plants and wildlife. Black-and-white and color photos, slides or CDs are accepted. Photographs with buildings or people as primary subject matter will not be accepted.
Cash prizes of $50 for first place and $25 for second place in each category will be awarded.
Entries must be postmarked by midnight May 15 and should be accompanied by an entry form and a $10 entry fee, which covers up to 10 photos.

Seeliger Elementary holds golf tournament
Seeliger Elementary School is holding a golf tournament at 9 a.m. May 7 at the Empire Ranch Golf Course. The cost is $95 per person; sponsoring a hole costs $600.
Each player will receive a goody bag full of golf equipment, a round of golf, range balls, a cart, a catered lunch and entry into a raffle.
Proceeds go toward new playground equipment. Preregistration is required.

The Reno Rodeo is now accepting applications for the "Miss Reno Rodeo" pageant. The deadline for submitting an application is 5 p.m. Friday.
The Reno Rodeo Queen is the year-round ambassador for the rodeo and will maintain a public relations schedule throughout the year, visiting schools and rodeos throughout the nation.
The Reno Rodeo Queen pageant will be held June 6-9.
