Kugler has strong weekend in rodeo

Douglas High's Alyce Kugler tied for first in Saturday's girls cutting go-round to help lead the effort for the Carson/Douglas Rodeo Club at its rodeo held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

High school competitors from all over the state competed in the event.

Kugler tied for first in Saturday's cutting with Jenna Mariluch as both finished with 143.10 points. Kugler had a a strong weekend, placying third in pole bending with 141.55 points and taking third in cutting with 93.28 points on Sunday.

On Saturday, Kugler also took 10th in barrel racing at 18.282 seconds. Also in Sunday's go-round, Douglas County's Jonathan Glocknitzer was second in boys cutting with 130.80 points, Galena's Elyse Heberger took 10th in breakaway calf roping at 5.78 seconds and Carson High's Pia Wendell was eighth in barrels. In Saturday's go-round, Glocknitzer was second in cutting with 129.60 points.

Muth fires an ace at Thunder Canyon

Jim Muth shot a hole-in-one at Thunder Canyon Golf Club on Thursday. He used a 6-iron on the 176-yard sixth hole.

Douglas County needs softball umps

Douglas County Parks & Recreation and DC Officials are currently looking for qualified officials for adult softball.

Umpires would receive $19 per game and games would run Mondays through Fridays, including tournaments in the summer and the fall.

Officials must be willing to work nights and weekends and have a flexible schedule.

Most games last approximately one hour and 10 minutes.
