Of the approximately 2,000 sex offenders believed to have fled the Gulf region during and after hurricane Katrina, only two are known to have relocated to Nevada, the Nevada Attorney General's Office reported Thursday.

One moved to Reno and registered with Reno law enforcement as a sex offender in compliance with Nevada law. One relocated to Las Vegas and applied for FEMA assistance from an address there, but did not register as a sex offender and is no longer residing at that address. The attorney general's office is working with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to track that person down.
