A 9-pound Walleye at Lahontan Reservoir

BLUE LAKES AREA, CALIF: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930): "We just finished a 15 minute snowstorm and now the sun is shining (Monday morning). This weather is crazy. It has been really quiet, all the fishermen are just staying home."

CAPLES LAKE, CALIF: Doug Busey of Douglas County reported no fishermen due to the bad weather.

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: Was very windy and badly white-capped on Saturday. On Sunday, that area received three feet of snow.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR, CALIF: Wiggin's Trading Post at Chilcoot, Calif. (530-993-4683): The campgrounds are open, even though the lake received over a foot of snow on Easter. The road to the dam is plowed, but you will need four-wheel drive to go any further. A limit of trout caught on April 13 with inflated nightcrawlers. That stringer weighed 15 pounds.

HINKSON SLOUGH, NEV (on the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area): Elmer Bull: The fly fishermen are saying that they are having "reasonable" success with flies, just under the surface of the water. There are also some bass being caught, even though it is a little early for the bass fishing to be good.

INDIAN CREEK RESERVOIR, CALIF: Doug Busey reported that Last Friday, Lew Souder of Gardnerville, caught, photographed and released an estimated 6-pound rainbow with a Roostertail lure. You can drive to the boat ramp but not into the campground area.

LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Missy Swain at Burke's Market (Closed on Mondays) at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): "The lake is really full and the Spring run-off hasn't even started yet. We are up to our elbows in water. We are starting to get some fishing reports. A fisherman caught a Walleye weighing almost 9 pounds over the weekend. He was fishing from shore with minnows, between Beach No. 10 and Beach No. 12."

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Jerry Rogers at The Gilly Sporting Goods Store in Sparks (358-6113): "The fly fishermen are using Popcorn Beetle flies or red/black Copper Johns to catch Cutthroat, averaging 4-8 pounds. The best action has been at the South Nets.

The boats have been doing real well, trolling Flatfish lures.

Spincasting has also been good. Yesterday (Tuesday), my son, Dennis Rogers of Sparks, caught an 8-pounder on a Crocodile lure at The Nets."

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore: Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): "The Mackinaw fishing has been good to excellent, between storms. We have been trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at depths of 110-290 feet. I've been fishing Dollar Point, Homewood and Sugar Pine Point. Averaging 4-10 fish per trip, ranging 2-5 pounds with the largest being 31 inches long."

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore: Gene St. Denis: "Fishing has been off and on. Catching 1-4 fish per trip, averaging 2-6 pounds. I've been trolling at places like Ski Run Mound, Ski Run Shelf and Camp Richardson. We have been trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows.

LAKE TAHOE - East Shore: Gene St. Denis: "The rainbow and brown fishing is good to excellent at Deadman's Point and Logan Shoals. Toplining has been good with large F-18 Rapala lures.

TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Lake Marina (775) 266-3550: Not many fishermen have been out, due to the weather. The ones that have been out, have been catching their limits. Boaters are having the best success at the south end of the lake, trolling with silver flasher blades and worms. Some trollers are using Rapala lures. Shore fishermen have had the best success on the southwest bank with inflated nightcrawlers. The north shore has been very slow for shore fishermen. As of last week, the lake is completely full.

WALKER LAKE, NEV: Don Hettrick and Don Quilici reported getting "skunked," last Thursday. They trolled from a boat at numerous locations during the day.

Also getting skunked in another boat were Rich Bachle of Fernley and John Holloway of Carson City.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR, NEV: Linda at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: "The sun is shining. It is supposed to be 64 tomorrow. There is still ice out in the middle. The water started going over the spillway on Monday. No one has been out fishing."
