ComputerCorps honors volunteers at Volunteer Week ceremony
ComputerCorps, in honor of National Volunteers Week, from Sunday through Saturday, will honor its volunteers from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the ComputerCorps Community TechCenter at 6373 Highway 50 E. Awards will take place at 1 p.m. Call 883-2323.
Carson Rangers looking for campground hosts
The Carson Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic person or couple to be a campground host for a campground located on the north end of the Carson Ranger District, north of Verdi and southwest of Bordertown in Dog Valley. The site has 18 camp sites, and Reno is a short drive east. Duties of a campground host include ensuring the campground remains clean, safe, and inviting to the public. Knowledge of the local area, plants, animals and history is helpful, but not essential. The campground opens May 22 and closes around Oct. 15. Applicants are required to commit for the length of the season and supply their own camp trailer and food. Tools necessary to carry out the duties are provided. Call 884-8108.

BAC holds 'Get In the Act' classes for kids
The Brewery Arts Center will be holding acting classes for children called "Get In the Act." Children will be introduced to the world of performing arts through dance, acting and singing. Classes are designed to also develop children's skills in imagination, vocabulary, teamwork and coordination.
Classes begin Wednesday for ages 3-5. Tuition is $95 for eight weeks. Call 588-8614.

JohnD Winters Park to be rededicated Thursday
The rededication of JohnD Winters Centennial Park will happen there from 4:30-5:30 Thursday.
The park at the corner of Arrowhead and Centennial Park drives was renamed last year in honor of Winters, who donated land to the city on King Street for the old high school and 100 acres for the West Eagle Valley Golf Course.
The park was formerly the site of rangeland run by the family, some of the city's most involved and early residents.

Senior Games athletes sought for Reno event
Athletes who are 50 years old or older are invited to register for the Sierra Nevada Senior Games, which take place Friday through May 13. More than 18 events are offered, from track and field, swimming, golf, mini golf and Pictionary. Preregistration is encouraged but certain events will accept on-site registration. Airstreamers to hold rally at Walker River
The Sierra Nevada Unit of WBCCI Airstream RV Club will be holding a rally Friday through Monday at the Walker River Resort near Smith Valley, off of Highway 208. Interested RVers should arrive after noon on Friday and may stay one day, or all three.
The Walker River Resort offers flyfishing, river boat trips, a driving range, bird watching, Jacuzzi, and a view of the stars. There will be a potluck on one of the days. Reservations must be made.
