Minden man arrested for allegedly beating homeowner

A 48-year-old man remains in custody on $250,000 bond after allegedly stalking and assaulting a Carson City couple.

Rodney James Carasella, of Minden, was arrested at 4:36 a.m. Saturday in the 7500 block of Center Drive on suspicion of felony battery with substantial bodily harm, aggravated stalking, gross misdemeanor denying access to emergency services and misdemeanor injury to property over $250.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a home at 2 a.m. Saturday after someone broke the owner's mailbox and window. The homeowners said that Carasella had been at the home several times that day and took three shoes from the deck of the residence, according to the arrest report.

Carasella allegedly knew the couple and had inquired about renting living quarters adjacent to the couple's house.

At 3:45 a.m., deputies returned to the residence because of a fight. Carasella allegedly repeatedly assaulted one of the homeowners, causing severe swelling and bruising to the face and chest. Officer's discovered the phone lines to the home had also been cut.
